People Love To Adopt 80s Fashion Often

70’s and 80’s are remembered by many as being the harbingers of different fashion styles and statements. The experiments done in designs impressed millions in those days. Styles changed very quickly in those years. MTV, which appeared on the scene then, revolutionized fashion, music and many other things. People tried to express themselves in many ways. The era saw sudden changes in the styles of men and women.

During ’70s people used to wear tight upper wear with a loosely fitting bottom wear. This fashion just reversed itself in 1980s. Women started to wear bolder dresses with shoulder pads. Men began wearing full sleeve shirts made from expensive fabric with baggy loose trousers which were tapered at the ankle. New designer romantic look started the “romantic movement” being inspired by the former punks.

The hot and trendy outfits of leather and designer jeans also emerged later and became a part of fashion. Women had adapted wearing high heel pointed shoes as business wear & jelly shoes that were transparent and came in glossy colors as party wear. The popular leisure wear clothing of this era was jog pants and track suits. The music bands of this era also came up with their own style statement of faded jeans that were acid washed and denim jackets and also tattoos & piercings were new highlights of their fashion trend. It was considered trendy for men who wore earrings. The hair looked shiny with volume for which mousse was used quite a lot in those days. The teenagers had a fancy for crimped hair with streaks of contrasting color. The whole trend of hair was reversed as men had long hair whereas women had short hair.

The precious gems studded jewelry was considered a symbol of status. It depicted power and wealth. Women wore peculiar long earrings which often were not matching and sometimes they would wear only one earring. The trend in jewelry was to wear chains of gold & silver in punk style and neon colors. The old jewelry was decorated with modern shapes and enamel. In the 80’s came the digital watches having wristbands in metal which later changed to dial watches for adults and plastic watches in vibrant colors for teenagers. These watches were built with roman numerals. The status defining design was Movado at that time which featured a sleek watch with a dot at 12. Sometimes people also wore multiple watches on one wrist along with hoop earrings and gold bracelets.

Leather bags that were designer became trend setters. Being compact in size, clutch bags became popular. Briefcases appeared on the scene in this era. Women tried to match shoe colors with their bags. Shawls in different designs and colors became a favorite of the women. These shawls could be worn with tops in the day and gowns in the evenings. Designer underwear made waves in this period. Women used light colored, laced panties. Men preferred bright colored boxer shorts. Small eye glasses with metal frames became a rage in these days. However round and small glasses remained popular in the entire 80’s. Fashion had a huge impact on everyday life in these two decades.
